BOG bolsters cedi defences with export tracking

The central bank is seeking to strengthen the cedi’s defences by deploying a new export monitoring platform to ensure the repatriation of all export receipts into the country. Exporters are expected to connect to the new electronic export monitoring platform by July 1, 2016, a notice served by the Central Bank on May 30, 2016 said.

BoG boss pledges to pursue SMEs growth

Dr. Abdul-Nashiru Issahaku, Governor-Bank of Ghana (BoG), has pledged to collaborate with banks in pursuing policies that will contribute to growing the country’s small and medium size companies, and provide incentives to encourage lending to productive sectors of the economy.

Bank of Ghana revising Banking Act

Dr Millison Kwadwo Narh, the Deputy Governor of the Bank of Ghana, has hinted that the bank was revising the current Banking Act to enable it to address the identified gaps.He said the Deposit Protection Bill is also about to be passed by Parliament to provide protection for small savers.Dr Narh said the passage of the two legislations would help the country to have a better framework to deal with micro-finance institutions that had gone down.
