The Ghana Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI) has adjudged Mr Issa Quedraogo, the Founder of B-Bovid Company Limited, an agro-business company, as the Chamber Businessman of Year at an awards ceremony on Saturday.The awards ceremony was to celebrate the finest of businesses that have demonstrated excellence in leadership and innovation in contributing to the socio-economic development of the country.The ceremony, on the theme: 'Enterprises in Transition: Recognising Innovative Businesses in Ghana,' had President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo as the Guest of Honour.

The Ghana Chamber of Commerce and Industry has targeted to increase exports to the United States from the current 14 percent to over 24 percent in eight years. Officials expect members to take full advantage of the Agric Growth and Opportunity Act (AGOA) initiative to achieve the objective.Beneficiary countries are entitled to export over 6,400 products quota and duty-free to the United States.The Africa-US bilateral arrangement encourages export-led growth to enhance trade and economic potential of sub-Saharan African countries.Chief Executive of the Ghana Chamber, Mark Adu Aboagy, is optimistic the target can be achieved.

The Paperless Port Transaction system has on Friday September 1, 2017 taken off successfully at the ports.Although the Ports delivery unit which requires clearance transactions did not function because it was a statutory holiday, the ship side of the Port operations was functional.Two people were able to make their online request which the Port Authority’s operational team were able to respond to and served appropriately.

Eighty companies have so far qualified to receive support to boost their businesses under government’s $50 million National Industrialisation Revitalisation Programme.
They have been selected from more than 350 viable business facing distress who submitted applications for the programme to the Ministry of Trade and Industry (MOTI).Mr Robert Ahomka-Lindsay, Deputy Minister for Trade and Industry (MOTI), said government believed that the best way to create jobs for citizens of the country was to embark on an extensive industrial transformation drive.

The 1st annual China Trade Week Ghana makes its way to Accra this year to further strengthen ties between China and Ghana.According to the organisers, MIE Events DMCC, its Managing Director David Wang has confirmed the endorsement of the Ministry of Trade and Industry, with Alan Kyerematen as the Minister, as well as China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, Ghana Chamber of Commerce & Industry, Association of Ghana Industries, Ghana Investment Promotion Centre and the East African Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture.
