Customs urged to promote international trade

The Customs Service Division of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) has been urged to remove all barriers to trade and promote a conducive environment to attract international trade.Deputy Finance Minister Kwaku Kwarteng, speaking on the theme ‘A Secure Business Environment for Economic Development’ at the World Custom Day in Accra said: “The processes and procedures for the importation, exportation and clearance of goods must be convenient, timely and certain”.

Ghana Revenue Authority marks 65th World Customs Day

Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) has marked the 65th International Customs Day celebration in Accra under the theme “A Secure Business Environment for Economic Development”.The day which is celebrated worldwide on January 26 is to appreciate the efforts of Customs officers and to recognize the role Customs play in securing the safety of countries’ ports.Speaking at the event in Accra Friday, the Deputy Finance Minister, Kweku Kwarteng said, the theme for this year’s celebration defines “the needs of our times”.

Govt assesses impact of tax cuts. Results to feature in 2017 budget — Larbi-Siaw

The Ministry of Finance is assessing the impact of the various tax reduction promises made by the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the run-up to the December 7 general election, a tax policy advisor at the ministry, Dr Edward Larbi-Siaw, has said.He explained that the ministry was currently undergoing an impact assessment exercise of the tax cuts promised by the new administration in order to ascertain the necessary adjustment to make in the 2017 budget statement.
