Ghana Shippers Authority

he Ghana Shippers’ Authority (GSA) has been at the frontline of Ghana’s maritime industry since its establishment in 1974 by NRCD254. It has over the years collaborated with private and public organisations in the maritime industry to pursue its primary objective of protecting and promoting the interests of Ghanaian shippers in relation to port, ship and inland transport problems in order to ensure safe, reliable and cost effective international transportation and a seamless and modally complementary logistics chain.

For four decades, the Authority operated under the corporate name-Ghana Shippers’ Council which by virtue of the Laws of Ghana (revised edition) 1998 Act 562, was changed to Ghana Sippers’ Authority.

The Change in name takes care of the transformation that the Council has seen over the years and brings it in tune not only with the Constitution of the republic of Ghana but also in accord with the dynamics of modern shipping practice as far as the demand side of shipping is concerned.
